THE VICTIM: Although less widely acknowledged than other Sammo Hung-directed ‘old-schoolers’, this kung fu comedy supreme is as close to perfect entertainment as they come. A genuine riot of a film, the complex plottage of bluffs and double-bluffs can barely keep pace with the breathlessly exhilarating fights, not least the final showdown between the ferociously intense Leung Ka Yan and somewhat sympathetic super-villain Chang Yi. This will undoubtedly have you gripped to your seat, ready for the next unexpected twist, and belly-laughing all the way with Hung’s zany slapstick escapades. Rating: 5 / 5 .
